NEC4 CECA Bulletin No 13: Notifying early warnings and notifying compensation events

GMH Planning in conjunction with CECA (Civil Engineering Contractors Association) are producing a series of monthly bulletins focusing each month on an aspect of NEC contracts that their members should take particular attention to.

The first bulletin in our 2022 series (13th overall) is about the subtle differences as to when an early warning should be notified, and when a compensation event should be notified.

The bulletin explores the different situations when either notification is applicable, and the importance of notifying the early warning or compensation event at the right time and the potential consequences that could arise if either party fails to do so.

This series of bulletins are intended to be a quick focus on certain aspects of the contract to allow parties to properly price and programme accordingly at tender stage and manage the contractual processes during the life of the project.
